Privacy Policy

Reel Lies (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Reel Lies mobile application and the website reellies.ai. Our contact email for privacy matters is privacy@reellies.ai.

We collect only what is necessary to operate the game.

2.1 Account information

You can play immediately without creating an account. If you sign in, we collect your email address and, optionally, your display name and profile photo. Sign-in is available through Google or Email one-time password.

2.2 Gameplay data

When you vote on a clip (real or AI), we record: your vote, response time in milliseconds, the session mode (Classic, Daily Challenge, or Reels), your accuracy level at the time of the vote, your app version, and the approximate country derived from your IP address. We do not store your precise location or IP address beyond processing.

2.3 Scores and progress

We store your XP, level, streak, accuracy statistics, and leaderboard rank. If you use an anonymous account, this data is tied to a device-local identifier.

2.4 Uploaded videos

If you use Creator Mode to submit videos, we store the video file, the title you provide, and metadata about its AI generation source. All uploads are reviewed before becoming visible to other players.

2.5 Push notification tokens

If you grant notification permission, we store a device push token to send you Daily Challenge reminders or streak alerts. You can revoke this at any time in your device settings.

2.6 Technical data

We collect app version, device operating system version, and crash reports to diagnose issues and improve stability. We do not collect advertising identifiers (IDFA) or use them for ad targeting.

• To provide and operate the game, including scoring, leaderboards, and session management.
• To improve our AI-detection training dataset. Votes are the core product — they are retained indefinitely in anonymized form (see Section 5).
• To send notifications you have opted into (Daily Challenge, streak reminders).
• To detect and prevent abuse, including review of uploaded video content.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.

We share data with the following providers only as needed to operate the app:

Votes are the core value of Reel Lies — they form a labeled dataset of human judgments about AI-generated content. Because of this, we retain vote records indefinitely, even after account deletion.

On account deletion: your user ID is severed from all vote and session records (replaced with a stable, non-reversible anonymous identifier). Your display name, email, uploaded creator profile, and Supabase authentication record are permanently deleted. Vote records remain but carry no information that can identify you.

Uploaded videos you submitted are deleted or disassociated from your account upon deletion, subject to moderation hold if a review is pending.

Reel Lies is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal data, please contact us at privacy@reellies.ai and we will delete the information promptly.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction — request correction of inaccurate data.
• Deletion — delete your account via Profile → Settings → Delete Account in the app, or by emailing us.
• Portability — request an export of your gameplay data.
• Object — opt out of certain processing (e.g., disabling push notifications).

California residents (CCPA) and EU/UK residents (GDPR) have additional rights. To exercise any right, contact privacy@reellies.ai. We respond within 30 days.

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app: open your Profile, tap the settings icon, and select “Delete Account.” Deletion is permanent and takes effect immediately. See Section 5 for details on what is removed and what is anonymized.

We use industry-standard practices including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted database connections, and short-lived JWT tokens for authentication. Secrets are never committed to source code. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel.

No system is perfectly secure. If you discover a vulnerability, please disclose it responsibly to privacy@reellies.ai.

We may update this policy. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you via in-app message or email (if you have an account). Continued use after the updated effective date constitutes acceptance.
