Terms of Service

By downloading or using the Reel Lies app or visiting reellies.ai (collectively, the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. We will notify you of material changes via in-app message or email.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Reel Lies. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

You may play as an anonymous guest without creating an account. If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

You may not create accounts for others without their permission, use another person's account, or use automated tools to create accounts.

Reel Lies is a game of skill and judgment. Scores, XP, streaks, and leaderboard rankings are computed by our servers. We reserve the right to adjust scores if we detect manipulation, cheating, or technical errors. Scores and rankings have no monetary value and are not transferable.

5.1 What you may upload

Creator Mode lets you submit short video clips for other players to judge. You may only upload videos that:

• Are entirely AI-generated (no real footage of real people or events presented as AI-generated).
• Do not contain sexually explicit, graphic violence, or hate speech.
• Do not violate any third party's copyright, trademark, or other rights.
• Do not contain private or personally identifiable information of others.
• Comply with applicable law in your jurisdiction.

5.2 Prohibited uploads

• Non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII) or deepfakes of real, identifiable individuals.
• Content depicting or sexualizing minors in any way.
• Misinformation designed to deceive outside the context of the game.
• Spam, duplicate, or low-quality submissions.

5.3 License you grant us

By uploading content, you grant Reel Lies a worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to store, display, distribute within the app, and use the video for training and improving AI detection models. You retain ownership of your content. This license continues even if you delete your account for content that has already been voted on, in anonymized/dissociated form, as described in our Privacy Policy.

5.4 Moderation

All uploads are reviewed before becoming visible. We may remove content that violates these Terms without notice and may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate them.

You agree not to:

• Use bots, scripts, or automation to cast votes or manipulate scores.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its servers.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account or system.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
• Impersonate any person or entity.

Certain features may be available through in-app purchases (“IAP”) processed by Apple (iOS) and managed through RevenueCat. All purchases are subject to the applicable app store's terms and are generally non-refundable except as required by law or app store policy. We do not store your payment details.

Reel Lies, the app design, name, logos, game mechanics, and all content we create (excluding your uploads) are our intellectual property or our licensors'. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of our intellectual property to you.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Reel Lies and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of $10 USD or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (Profile → Settings → Delete Account). We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for violation of these Terms or for any reason at our discretion, with or without notice.

Sections 5.3, 8, 9, 10, 12, and 13 survive termination.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
